Wonderful, Stephen, I kept on reflecting my own habits based on your ideas. Go with the flow, connection comes first. The only two that I am still mulling over are: be reactive - yes for me as a learner. But when I am the teacher in my job, I would be proactive, in least at the start, in order to connect. Would the context be important? Yes, online, people cooperate. And when the connections become "strong ties", one could even collaborate. May be collaboration is a real challenge for networkers, as networkers may not necessarily share goals and work together that easily. Forget about "win-win", that suits me best. Thanks again. John

    Thanks Stephen.

Reveal connections between myself and the other, link their content with mine, respect their different goals, add valuable just in time contributions, share both professional and personal, be self sufficient first and then ask for the right type of help, observe and include community protocols, be authentic.

Marie, This is a great list and of interest to me as I start to design our online science curriculum. I was surprised, having spoken to a lot of teachers, to not see a SmartBoard or ActivBoard on your list. Teachers find these boards to be incredibly useful technology for classrooms.

I got all excited when I saw your screenshot of Microsoft Equation Writer - it was like a dream come true. So I downloaded it, tried to install it and.... I don't have a Tablet PC, so I can't run it. Is there anything similar you know of for XP? Or what about Vista?

I work and play online and am working to improve my skills in moderating online forums. I''ve avoided forums in the past in favour of synchronous tools because of your point number 2, but realise they can be important spaces for growth and learning so need to jump in. There is one forum in particular with which I''m involved that seems to have lost its way and it seems such a shame. This article pulls together a lot of the research and reading I''ve been doing. Thanks to Bambi''s Twittering this morning, I''ve found this. Cheers Stephen!
