    I attended high school doing distance learning with an online community and it felt as though the teachers were never nearly as present or accessible (or dare I say relatable) in those open forums. Sounds like things have improved though since then.

    Patrick, Interesting, but I think you are running away from a real issue that, for too long training has been seen as too complex for simple measurement. e-learning is no different from classroom evaluation as far as ROI is concerned, it does not require such a complex approach to IT infrastructure integration and indeed the system can simply be viewed as overhead and then, focus on the real value add of the learning/training itself. At the end of the day if a business can not measure the benefit of doing training, then there is something fundamentally wrong with the whole approach to training.

    After reading your excellent column again, I realized that my newest eLearn Blog post, on warm-up exercises, was also about engagement. Warm-ups are merely a technique for inciting engagement.
